19: Green potion

Some of you have been asking for food pics, so here's one! I consume this almost daily, and I really enjoy the sour green flavour. I can almost feel the dental enamel corroding away. This potion is very healthy, delicious and simple. Just mix a good chunk of freshly cut pineapple, two fistfuls of spinach leaves, lemon slices, banana, half an avocado, some water, a dash of spirulina and whatever pops into mind, like kiwis or apples. I find wild testing to be the best option with smoothies as people have very different tastes!

Looks like some mad scientist's toxic brew, but it still looks much better than some of my other smoothies that unmistakably resemble vomit. :D Time for a new blender, perhaps?

    1. I think it is delicious, but I'm sure many would disagree, heh! You can always make very different variations of green smoothies, so you can switch the banana to something else.

  3. Love the color!
Do you take it as a (full) meal?
I drink a lot of smoothies after and before derby pratices - all natural also.

    1. Natural smoothies are great recovery drinks! Usually I take the smoothie as a breakfast/lunch or during the day to lift up my mood, but rarely as a full meal. Unless I pair it with something heavier like nuts and seeds, then it's a meal. :)

  5. Sounds like a nice adventure trying out new things every day! I've never been much for green smoothies, but maybe I'll start mixing things up a bit and getting away from the reds :)

    1. It's worth a try! I'm hopelessly addicted to blueberries so the red ones are in my blender too. :)

  6. Oh yes, those vomit-like smoothies are the best as they don't get nicked by others. ;)
I also like everything with berries, they tend to result in a, well... nice purple-brownish color...

    1. Hahaha, indeed! People just stare at the bottle like it's an abomination. I also like to use spirulina with a heavy hand, so the dark green slime that produces definitely isn't everyone's cup of tea. Well, more for me! ;)

And oh that purple-brownish colour, it's very familiar! Berry-banana-soymilk and voila, the colour gets icky. I also like to use chia seeds in smoothies which doesn't help with the looks at all. :'D

    2. So true. :D I remember one time I whipped up chia seeds with cinnamon and vanilla as a quick travel snack - the faces of the others were priceless. Brown slime, yummy.

    1. 'You're poison runnin' through my veins!' Thanks for the ear worm!
I could nom blueberries all the time, they're just too good. Luckily our forests are filled with blueberries in the summertime so I don't get bankrupt over them. :D

    2. Oh, lucky! I live on the west-coast in Norway, so we're lucky to even find something that it's not already taken by birds and whatnot.

    3. Oh wow, west coast! I would looove to see some Norwegian fjords, I think you're quite lucky to live in the coast area. :) But I guess that's how it goes; nature is wonderful everywhere and it's impossible to get all the good bits. I've always lived in Eastern Finland and the woods here are wonderful, there's always tons of berries left in the woods to rot since no-one can pick them all.

    1. Oh, then you should try it! I love eating raw lemons and like to add a lot of it to this smoothie, so it is very sour. :)
