Handful of home

I decided to finally step into the wagon of modern times and so I got my very first smartphone! Even after a few weeks it's still outsmarting me at times, but I'm slowly learning the gimmicks behind the touch screen. It's a rare thing that a young woman has to ask her parents for help with modern devices, but here I am, an old soul in the skin of a 20-something lady. Any suggestions on vital apps for Lumia phones are warmly welcomed. :)

I often get requests to blog more about my home, so here's a handful of home details. All are captured through the phone, most are old things you've seen here before, but some are new. Like the vintage learning boards (is that the right word for them?) of bats and corvidae birds that I've been searching forever in my dreams and have found in real life during this summer. Funny that they should pop right into my eyes in the flea markets of this small town, but sometimes you just get lucky!

My favourite at the precise moment has to be one of those bell jars. It guards the scented candles that have created a glaze of vanilla scented frost insde the jar, and to me it looks so beautiful that I stop and stare it daily! Oh, little chemical wonders.

"Through the darkness of future past, the magician longs to see, one chance out between two worlds; fire - walk with me!"

I believe there's something good to be found inside every person.
Especially if they love Twin Peaks.

So, it's time for the annual round of the greatest show that's ever aired!  Personally to me it feels like more than a TV show - it's a lot like a state of mind. A little parallel universe where you can always escape to, filled with strange and surreal sides of woodland mysteries. Last night we started with the first few episodes with my love and continued on today. We'll be having the same date every night for as long as the two seasons last! This bliss requires sharing the couch with my sweetheart, with a fresh pot of quality coffee (black as midnight on a moonless night, naturally) and PIE. That goes without saying.

The cherry season has died away so I had to replace them with self-picked blueberries. I created the pie with *this* vegan recipe (the topping is coconut ice cream) and I must say it's quite brilliant. Easy to make and not too sweet! The recipe must be good since I'm honestly not much of a baker and still my love said something that Agent Dale Cooper later agreed on:

The outfit of this happening is trivial but even so, I thought you might like to see it. I don't know why it felt like Twin Peaks to me, maybe the red nails and the dress whispered something like that when combined! We went to snap the pics on a nearby railroad bridge that reminds me of Ronette Pulaski in the pilot episode, and there's also a sawmill next to it to add a little more feel of the ghostly woodland series. The sun and the clouds were playing hide and seek so photos are tinted in different lights, hope you don't mind.

The dress and the shoes belong to this summer's best second hand finds; Minna Parikka pumps from a friend and glittery funeral dress from the 60's. The brooches are miscellaneous finds and the tights were created by the dancing shadows of the wire fence.

Soon I'm off to drift into a deep sleep.
I wonder if there's a dancing dwarf in there, or perhaps a room with red curtains.

But first: Lovers of Twin Peaks, I'd love to hear if you have some special characters or scenes that fill your heart with joy or terror! Your favourite bits of this great show? :)

Even the stars look brighter tonight, nothing's impossible

Yesterday's pretty casual outfit: spine heels paired with Black Milk pants and a second hand dress that I've been living in most of the summer. The two swords by Blood Milk have also only rarely left my ears.

But now for some beaming good news, the best ones this week!
I'm going to see DEPECHE MODE in December!

I owe my sweet sister one for getting two tickets for me and the significant gentleman by my side! Depeche Mode is definitely one of our mutual favourites and the last time they were in Finland I was left with no ticket and a crunched little heart. I hope nothing will make me miss it this time!

I've been dancing to my favourites a lot this week and like they sing; I just can't get enough. ;) I tried to gather a song list here, but the list started to resemble a Top 50 list so I had to stop. They just make too many bloody great songs, so I guess for now I'll just tell my absolute fave song from them. And that is hands down Nothing's Impossible.

It really mesmerizes me every single time I hear it, I love this song so much. It's also in my all-time top five song list! I'm sure there are some Depeche Mode fans in my readers, which one is your favourite Depeche song? Are you attending the Delta Machine Tour?

Selling some treasures!

Sunglasses After Dark

Sun and I, we're not exactly the best of friends. I'm much better off with the moon's luminous glow, although it only borrows its light from the sun.

But I do enjoy summer and especially a nice pair of shades on the days when the sun scorches the earth and when I'm forced to leave my nest before nightfall. Damn that makes me sound like a vampire wannabe but I'm just really sensitive to sun and blinding light, so I prefer to stay indoors in the hottest days. Shadows, shades and high SPF are my good pals during summer!

I purchased this feline pair from Dahlia Deranged's Etsy shop. The right shaped cat eye sunglasses are hard to come by so I was pretty smitten to get these beauties out of the case! Even the case looks glumly neat with skulls and crossbones to match the design. And the tastefully kitschy skulls&pearls decor makes these beauties fun yet elegant! I feel these have just the right vibe between the realms of vintage and goth that I enjoy.

There was also some other gloomy treats in the package, but I'll save them for later.

A fruit that's death to taste: dark flesh, dark parings.

Autumn is around the corner and the shades of wine and plum grow more tempting towards its arrival. Autumn always makes me long for dark purple shades. And oh how I love purple! It draws me to it in nature, flowers and fruit, in lipsticks and eye shadows and in hair, although I don't dye mine anymore.
If I would, I'd probably dye it purple.

My sister kindly took these outfit pics in the garden while we were visiting our childhood home.
Although I love all the apple trees and berry bushes my favourite thing in the garden must be this odd purple bush! Especially when the evening sun pierces its leaves or morning dew glistens on them like frost. If I ever get that garden of my dreams, it will most likely glow with the purple hues of these plants.
