Day 23: Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy

It is the night before Midwinter festival's Eve, and I'm starting to absorb more of the special holiday feeling that usually wants to play hide-and-seek with me just before Yule. But I caught it, after all I'm cradled by the icy white world and frosty trees into the warmth of my childhood home. Candles are flickering, treats have been prepared and all the siblings have finally gathered here, so what's there not to like. Although I accidentally left my seitan ingredients home and failed many other things too (like leaving the gifts to the last drop!), but the most important thing is that I am here.

For some reason I wore white for these pictures, perhaps it's a sad last minute attempt to appear nice and innocent rather than naughty, or maybe it's just a little tulle-filled salute for one of my favourite tunes for this time of the year:

I wish you darlings a peaceful Midwinter, Yule, Christmas, whatever you wish to call it! Tomorrow is December 24th, the last day for this blog calendar thingy, I hope you have all enjoyed it.

  5. You look lovely in white! Your mother seems to have a beautiful closet. Is she as fond of clothing and vintage as you are?

    1. Thank you! She does enjoy clothing and shoes but her style differs from mine greatly, most of her wardrobe consists of blazing red and orange pieces and lots of different colours. But we do share a passion for Minna Parikka shoes. ;)

  9. Tulle skirts are a wonderful thing. I always admire skirts for little ballerina girls when I'm passing by such stores. I even own a pink one! It looked purple in the picture and the colour was named "berry", so I ordered it. When it arrived I opened a box with a pink skirt :D I decided to keep it anyway and it became one of my favourites :)

    1. That really happens sometimes, the clothes that we aren't sure of become one of the favourites. :) There's something special indeed about tulle skirts!

  10. Merry Christmas eve! You look just as lovely in white as you do in black, in fact you'd look great in any colour! I wish my Mums closet was filled with clothes like that! When I read Sugar Plum Fairy it reminded me of a series of books I used to read when I was really little called Victoria Plum! I wish I could get my hands on those books again, they were so adorable! I hope you have a great Christmas with all your loved ones! ~♥~

    1. Thank you very much! I love my mom's style, it's so unique and very different than mine. :) You should definitely check out eBay or other auction sites or antiquarian bookshops for those books, I'm sure you'll find them one day. I've found some of the books I read in my childhood in most peculiar places!

  13. You look beautiful in white!

May I ask what camera you use? I'm looking for a new one, since my current one isn't the best... either that or my crappy photo skills ;)

    1. Thanks! Mine isn't even nearly the best either, but it's not always about how good your camera is, it's more a matter of how you learn to use it. :) My camera is a second hand Canon 550D, it's gradually starting to decay but I'm going to use it as long as it takes some photos.
