Seeing Red

Another week just disappeared, gah! Did you see where it went? I sure didn't. Free time seems to be an illusion in my life right now.

My current colour code includes deep, succulent shades of red. Apparently I have nothing in the hue of wine or oxblood in my closet, but lipstick and nail polish gave a hand here, and the comics I'm biting through have red in them too.

American Vampire is the best comics find I've had in a while, the artwork is wonderfully dynamic and I'm especially fond of the way the series portrays different vampire species. It's violent, crude and although the story takes place in the old times it still has a modern feel to it. It feels good to see honestly monstrous and blood-thirsty children of the night on these pages, after the huge wave of those glittery sissies. I'm anxious to read the other parts too but someone got ahead of me in the library, so I can only wait.

To continue on the path of red things, for I enjoy theme posts; Here's a candy apple red water boiler that crossed my path the other day. I was just about to purchase this boiler to replace our broken one but  found it in a second hand shop before striking the deal. It's a wonder how often this happens at flea markets, the thing you're looking for just pops right in front of your eyes!

I also felt like sharing these apples with you, because for a little moment they felt like the most miraculous thing in the world. I get moments like these a lot and I want to share more of these random things that touch me, hope you don't mind. Their beauty got my attention at the fruit counter and I had to carry some of them home. The very instant I saw red skies shifting with glowing stars in them, like miniature universes holding life inside of them. But much more scrumptious.

(nailpolishes I used: GOSH, Night Kiss + Bottega Verde, Rubino Scintillante)

And now for the other Apple.

The Apple I'll be staring at school for the months to come whenever my other duties allow me to. This concerns my blog too, I won't be having as much time to update now so please bear with me darlings! I have a deadline lurking ahead of me and I need to finish my thesis and other courses or dig up a gaping hole, six feet deep, in the cold ground of unfinished degrees.

This is the most important focus point in my life now, this is my conquerable Mount Everest and the battlefield I will fight through even if it requires sleepless nights and collateral damage of a social nature. The good news is I'll probably enjoy my ride since the thesis subject is so lovely! I'll try to post whenever I have free time, but as I already said, I'm short of that for the time being.

  1. Hey... Love all your pictures, and yes the week just disappeared for me too. I love all that shades of red, and this nail polish is really cool... love your tattoos on fingers, I don't have a beautiful hand so I can't tattoo in mine. But I wanna a triplice luna in some part of my hands. I'm so happy when your post *--*

    1. Thanks so much May, I'm so happy to hear it makes you happy! And I'm sure you have pretty hands, mine are pretty wrinkly for a girl in my age but it's still absolutely no obstacle for getting hand tattoos.

I'm curious about which league do you play in? :)

  6. Olipa ihana punainen postaus. :) Näen ihan selkeästi tähdet kimaltamassa noissa universumiomenoissa, nyt kun sanoit...
Tsemppiä kouluhommiin, ethän uuvuta itseäsi? (After all, se kun on "vain" lopputyö. ;)

  7. Oh, these apples are amazing. (Sorry, I've got a little fixation on fruit - but to my defense, they are also the perfect fruit for your snow white-ish appearance. ;))
Hope you'll be successful with your thesis, hang in there! The feeling once it's done is so mind-blowing. May I ask what you're writing about? I so loved my subject, but even so it was one of the most intense and exhausting periods of my life (just to mention sleep deprivation, social isolation, panic attacks...), so, hopefully, you'll fare better. :)

    1. Hi Momiji, I've got a fixation with fruit too! I usually spend a lot of time at the fruit counter and try to pick just the perfect ones, driving my shopping companions half mad.

And thanks so much! I've got less than two months to complete it, so it will be quite a journey. But I'm sure I can make it! It just requires a lot of strength and focus. I'm actually building my thesis on mr.Poe, but I'll tell you guys more about that later. ;)

    2. Tell me about it, I'm also the one who's usually rummaging through the whole stash of bananas in search of the perfectly ripe bunch. Fruit's simply the best. I think it's awesome that you're so conscious to be as good as vegan, anyway.

Well, I'm eager to read a little bit about that someday, in the meantime I'll keep my fingers crossed. :)

  9. Red is my most favorite color. Your candy apple red water boiler is the same shade as all my kitchen appliances. :) I can see why the apples needed some photo love - they look magical! The makeup is bewitching - you've got a talented hand. Sad to hear of less frequent posts in the future but education is of the utmost importance - good luck!

    1. Oh I'd love to have all my kitchen appliances in this colour! But I've received most of them as a gift or second hand, so I didn't have much of a choice. And I just needed to photograph those apples, they were so gorgeous!

And thank you so much for your kind words :)

  15. Mikäli American Vampiren taidetyyli miellyttää silmää, en voi olla suosittelematta erästä sarjakuva-albumia. Vuonna 2011 loppupuolella kirjoittaja Scott Snyder kirjoitti suorastaan poskettoman kovan Batmanin maailmaan sijoittuvan tarina-arkin, joka on koottuna albumiin nimeltä The Black Mirror.

  16. You're looking exquisite as always! I'm loving the neck bow on that gorgeous blouse! American Vampire has caught my eye on many occasions over the past year or so when I visit the local book shop in town and every time I tell myself to look for it online, as I know it'll be cheaper, but I never remember to do it! Even just last week I came across a copy on eBay and watched it but ended up forgetting all about it until the bidding war was over! That is just typical of me!

I purchased a kettle of the same candy apple colour during the January sales! I had been wanting to buy it for months but at £59 pound it was a tad on the extortionate side, until it went down to £23 in the sales and I snapped it up right away! I dream of having a retro kitchen some day, including a bright red fridge/freezer!

Good luck with your school work! ~ ♥ ~

    1. Oh thanks so much! :) I really recommend reading American Vampire, it's fun and violent and a must-read for the fans of this genre. And I know how that feels, I almost always forget to bid on the eBay items I'm stalking..

I'd love to have a retro kitchen too, with a chessboard floor and a huge dark red fridge. But this kettle will do until then, I got it just for a few euros. Talking about a bargain! And thank you, I need all the luck in the world right now.

Which lipstick did you use in the first picture? It is the shade I've been looking for quite a while.

    1. Oh thank you Rianne! It's actually a mix between lipsticks, I think I wore Vintage Red by Lumene Natural Code and a light touch of Make Up Store's Black Orchid on top of it. I like to mix lipsticks and get different shades without buying them. :)
