Good news!

And the award for the best news of the week goes to...
...GRADUATION! ♥


 It's a wonder how some papers with words and hieroglyphs on them can make you feel so free! And a little confused too, like my expression shows in the photo. Relief and disbelief also surfaced. Now I'm officially a graphic designer from the university of applied sciences, and a school girl no longer. So much hard work for a paper that doesn't necessarily even have a greater meaning later in life, but it feels good nonetheless. (Although I'm still fighting the urge to fold my diplomas into origami cranes and let the winds carry them away.)
There weren't any roses or bubbly toasts or warm handshakes that day, nor a ceremony of any kind. But I will throw a casual outdoor picnic party for my friends on Saturday, if the weather spirits allow it. :)

    wow! congratulations!
    When i'm cleaning, the diplomas sometimes come up from drawers and stuff. Even if they don't have a big meaning anymore, they bring so much memories to my mind.. It's nice to sit down with them and remember all the funny, lovely and sometimes awful situations from school... So i suggest no origamis, just a bit of dust on them will do ;)

      Hehee, I know I won't turn them into origamis although I sure feel like it now! I'll have to keep them safe under a pile of dust for the future, you never know when you might need them. :)

    Congratulations!
    My final exam will be next week, and if I pass, I guess the first thing I'll do is print out my thesis just to BURN it! All that work made me hate my topic so much, I am just glad when it's all over and I never have to talk about it again. And it's so ridiculous, because I'm from a university of applied sciences my diploma is regarded to be worth "less" then from a "real" university even though we have so much more work to do to get it -.-
    Too bad Austria is a very "title-loving" country so without a title/diploma you're not really worth anything here, no matter what you want to do =/

      I wish you all the luck with the exam!

      I felt the EXACT same way, hahaha. I just wanted to print out a copy from both the diploma and the thesis, and ceremonially burn them in the school yard and dance on the ashes. But I just chose to play it maturely and skipped all that and went calmly home. But some kind of burning ritual would've felt good, just to clear things out from the mind!

      And things are the same in Finland too, it's ludicrous. The thesis from the university of applied sciences requires and awful lot of work, and it's still regarded as a lower thing than the works of a "real" university student. Even if it would contain the same amount of work, or even more! So it feels like the elite stamp still lingers on universities. Some individuals will always look down on you if you're not graduated from the university level, and that's just sad. :/ People have such different choices and paths in life, and for example I chose the applied sciences solely because I wanted to design and to create, and it was the right choice for me. We all have our own paths, so it's sad how things like these can define us in the eyes of some people. I hope this will change in the future. :)

      Meillä oli siinä joku kömmähdys, oli siis tarkoitus että olisi seremoniakahvittelut ja kenties ruusutkin, mutta tilaisuus siirrettiin ensi kuuhun. Näin meidän koulussa! :D

    Congratulations!! It is a bit boring when the universitys refuse to make something festive out of the graduation. I was lucky that our year of students got a ceremony in church with speeches and so on. Good luck with your future!

      Oh nooo! I'm really honored that you liked it, but I'm so bummed that I didn't have more time for the writing part so it turned out pretty lame. But even I think that the actual work (the only thing that matters in the thesis in my opinion) was a success of some kind. I'm just happy that all the techniques worked! Thank you for your kind words. <3
