"Through the darkness of future past, the magician longs to see, one chance out between two worlds; fire - walk with me!"

I believe there's something good to be found inside every person.
Especially if they love Twin Peaks.

So, it's time for the annual round of the greatest show that's ever aired!  Personally to me it feels like more than a TV show - it's a lot like a state of mind. A little parallel universe where you can always escape to, filled with strange and surreal sides of woodland mysteries. Last night we started with the first few episodes with my love and continued on today. We'll be having the same date every night for as long as the two seasons last! This bliss requires sharing the couch with my sweetheart, with a fresh pot of quality coffee (black as midnight on a moonless night, naturally) and PIE. That goes without saying.

The cherry season has died away so I had to replace them with self-picked blueberries. I created the pie with *this* vegan recipe (the topping is coconut ice cream) and I must say it's quite brilliant. Easy to make and not too sweet! The recipe must be good since I'm honestly not much of a baker and still my love said something that Agent Dale Cooper later agreed on:

The outfit of this happening is trivial but even so, I thought you might like to see it. I don't know why it felt like Twin Peaks to me, maybe the red nails and the dress whispered something like that when combined! We went to snap the pics on a nearby railroad bridge that reminds me of Ronette Pulaski in the pilot episode, and there's also a sawmill next to it to add a little more feel of the ghostly woodland series. The sun and the clouds were playing hide and seek so photos are tinted in different lights, hope you don't mind.

The dress and the shoes belong to this summer's best second hand finds; Minna Parikka pumps from a friend and glittery funeral dress from the 60's. The brooches are miscellaneous finds and the tights were created by the dancing shadows of the wire fence.

Soon I'm off to drift into a deep sleep.
I wonder if there's a dancing dwarf in there, or perhaps a room with red curtains.

But first: Lovers of Twin Peaks, I'd love to hear if you have some special characters or scenes that fill your heart with joy or terror! Your favourite bits of this great show? :)

Twin Peaks on ehdottomasti syksyn ensimerkkejä! :)

    1. Voi Log Lady, hihii! Mun erään ystävän sulhasella on halkotatuointi jonka ympärillä lukee "ask the log", ihan paras! Mullakin tulee aina kylmät väreet ja kotoisa olo tunnarista, olen samaa mieltä myös noiden neitokaisten kauneudesta! Harmi vaan ettei sarjassa ole mieskauneus mitenkään erityisen edustettuna Dale Cooperia lukuunottamatta, mutta kelpaa noita kaunottaria katsella senkin edestä. :>

Harvemmin tekee noin hyviä vintagelöytöjä kirppareiden uumenista, joskus nää Joensuun valikoimat vaan tosissaan yllättää. :) Aika hasardilta tosiaan tuntui toi silta, kuvauspaikkana vaan jotenkin aika mielettömän kiva.

  10. I'm definitely a Twin Peaks lover, I can't count times I've watched that show. First time I saw it I think I was about 10 years old, if not even younger... Main thing is the athmosphere that gets you every time!
Perfect music also in this show, the angelic voice of Julee Cruise gives me goosepumps every time. I think it was in the movie but the saddest song on earth must be Questions in a world of blue by Julee Cruise.
And oh so many favourite scenes, impossible to pick just few but maybe I'm watching the show again this fall too and catch some new ones (that happens every time..)

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Me neither, my guess would be nine or ten times but I just can't count all the times! Some episodes I've seen at least a dozen times, like the pilot episode. I love Julee's voice too, so ethereal and dreamy. :) Questions in a world of blue feels truly said, but my personal fave from her is Into the Night.

I also agree with you about the best scenes! A new one pops up every time, this time to me it was the moment when Donna gets up at the RR cafe and says "I'm going to say hi". Then she walks up to Audrey, slows just before a few steps and says "hi". Ingenious! :D

I love your shoes btw! I've gotten so old that anything over 10cm feels too high for me. You know it happened when you start paying more for the comfort than the looks :D

But I usually aim for comfort too, if I need to run errands and such. :)

:) Mua karmii Bobin (no, tietty) lisäksi aina Leo Johnsonin vegetatiivinen läsnäolo, ai hitto se on pelottava! Twin Peaksin takia haluaisin päästä käymään noissa Amerikan pikkukaupungeissa näkemässä, onko siellä oikeasti noin vinksahtanutta.

  19. What a beautiful dress, it looks so classic against red nails and lips and those sunnies! There is a TV show called Carnivàle which I think you'll probably love! It's a tale of good verses evil with plenty of mystery and supernatural goings on and takes place during the American Great Depression in the 1930s. As you can probably guess it follows a traveling carnival/side show and has the most beautiful authentic looking props! If you love Michael Anderson in Twin Peaks you'll adore him in Carnivàle as he is one of the main characters. Sadly there are also only two seasons of it! If you haven't already seen it then I highly recommend it!

  21. Twin Peaks is one of my favorite shows ever! I've watched it 3 or 4 times for now, and I plan to do so again this winter.

I love the soundtrack of the show, especially on the long drives on the bus through scenery such as this http://metro-portal.hr/img/repository/2010/11/medium/zimska_idila5_cx_as.jpg

My favorite character is probably Audrey (I *love* her dance), but most memorable ones are Leland, and, of course, Bob.

    1. Oh I love her dancing scene too! Isn't it too dreamy? ;)

Leland's grin (and Sarah, dunno why) scares the shit out of me, it's so creepy. Creepier than Bob! And oh yes, the soundtrack is special for certain occasions. I love to listen to it while walking in the city, it changes the way I perceive the things around me.

Sheriff Truman: We call her the Log Lady.
    Log Lady: Shhhhhhh!

    :')

I watched the show when it originally aired ... my oldest was then only six months old, and I would have to get him into bed before the show started at 8:00 p.m. I can still remember Julee Cruise's singing and how much I loved that song. And I don't think I've ever liked Kyle MacLachlan in anything before or since, as much as his character Agent Cooper.

  30. Tykkään aivan hirmuisesti sarjan alkupuolen osista, mutta jossakin vaiheessa mielenkiintoni aina lopahtaa, kun kuviot muuttuvat sekavammiksi. Olen tosin katsonut sarjaa vain tv:n lähetysaikojen armoilla ja pitäisi varmaan lainata kirjastosta DVD:nä.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Kannattaa lainata! :/

  43. Moth, I agree. Love Twin Peaks. Almost 25 years, soon, and it's coming back for 9 episodes on Showtime, just as Laura Palmer predicted: "I'll see you again in 25 years. Meanwhile..." And then she takes Madonna's advice and strikes a pose, voguing into the future. Which is almost here. Can't wait till 2016.

Watched every episode when I was going through my master's degree program in college. Became a bit too obsessed with it back then; BOB haunted my dreams for a while.

I've been revisiting TP the last week or so, just a couple episodes a night. I'm halfway through season 2. Can't wait to revisit the movie and see the new, previously-unreleased footage from the three-plus hours that was cut.

My new collection is in HD, except for the Log Lady intros, which are still depressingly SD.
