Movie Screen

Before fellow AR-people ask, no animals died in the process of making that fluffy piece! Maybe a Care Bear or two but surely that's acceptable enough, compared to the real thing. The boots are surprise freebies I once received from Pennangalan, and the song is an earworm I picked from Metalhead movie.

For a film enthusiast, times have been good in this town in November! First the horror night of Cinemare offered some wonderful trash, gore and horror through the whole night, and then came Rokumentti Rock Film Festival. So I have spent most days rewinding movies in my head and watching them, both in cinema and at home.

I strongly recommend seeing What We Do In the Shadows if you even slightly enjoy twisted humour and vampires. I have seriously NEVER seen a film that funny, and I've seen many! Wiping away tears of laughter after ten minutes usually is a pretty good sign, and it's hard to get over how heart-warming the dandy vampire Viago was. I would definitely add this hilarious piece to the top three list of modern vampire films.

The first place in my mind belongs to the mesmerizing Only Lovers Left Alive, which, given the chance, I had to see again on the screen. It was perfection packed in an hour and a half; a night presentation where I secretly sipped red wine while melting on the red velvet chair, silently giggling at the thought how it doesn't get much gothier than that. Another intense experience was seeing La Chute de la Maison Usher, the live music show went beautifully with the silent Poe classic. I've seen Das Cabinet des Dr. Caligari in the same way, and find the concept of live music and silent cinema altogether beautiful.

And some other small mentions; 20,000 Days on Earth was a must-see piece for any Nick Cave fan, and Metalhead was entertaining, with little sprinkles of Icelandic humour over the quality drama. I'm always eager to hear new film suggestions, so if you have something in mind, let me know!

  5. May I be cheeky and say, I am fairly certain these are the boots you were going to wear when you were 30. I am sure I read that in a post from long ago.
It is amazing how fashion tastes can change in such small amounts of time however, this is also one of my favourite things about clothing, the way you can be a different person each day. I really enjoy your blog, thank you for the little glimpse into your world.
    Much love xx

    1. Sweet Nothings, you were the only one who remembered that, haha! I always remember writing that when I pull these boots on! It's funny to see how tastes change in the course of time, mine has changed so so much during this little blog of mine, and it will change in the future as well.

      And thank you! <3

I was going to do it at first, but at the end I didn't have any time or energy for it, had to get my own life sorted out.

  14. All the movies above: excelent! WWDITS was funny and not chessy at all. It was legit and it wasen't a wannabe good vampire movie, it was actually a great movie. The one that I have on my laptop but haven't watch yet is Metalhead.
