Today my calendar reveals some sugar frosted trees and snowfall for all of you who don't have this cold substance laying on the ground or frost flowers decorating your window. Hope you enjoy the sight! I also threw in some pieces from today's completely thrifted school look, I gave a presentation regarding the subject of my thesis. I feel there's still hope for me in that matter, all I now need to do is draw, draw, draw.
Somehow the cold always manages to surprise and at first it chills me to the marrow of the spirit, but then I remember how utterly beautiful winter is. All the world looks so clean and serene, and I don't believe I could live in a country without winter, at least not for very long. In Finland the quicksilver has already hit -20ºC once and I fear it keeps on dropping, but this feels like a picnic compared to the -33ºC we had last winter. And will have this year too, I believe.
What is your lipstick here? You always look so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteSnow here in my part of the world as well...
Thank you very much! I wore Black Orchid by Make Up Store in these pics.
DeleteIt's the first -20ºC that's the hardest, I find. And by the end of the winter, -20º almost seems warm compared to the -40º we'll have endured at least a few times. But it is beautiful and I agree it would be difficult to live without it. Ask me again in February and see if I feel the same way ... ;o)
ReplyDeleteHaha, you can ask the same thing from me! By February I'm usually sick with winter and the biting frost, it would be better if the winter could only last a couple of months but it always lingers on for at least five..
DeleteAnd you're right, the first cold days always feel the hardest! I guess it's just that the body hasn't gotten used to it yet.
beautiful song (the title). beautiful pictures. i love winter ;-)
ReplyDeleteI'm always glad when someone recognizes the quotes! ^^ It's a beautiful song, though not my favourite from them. I love winter too, but I wish it could be a little shorter and not so incredibly freezing.
DeleteThe first photo is so wonderful! I remember my first walks is Joensuu within those trees!
ReplyDeleteThank you! Those trees are great, one of my favorite spots in this city. :)
DeleteEnchating landscape!
ReplyDeleteIt truly is!
Deletebeautiful
ReplyDelete:)
DeleteBeautiful photos. It doesn't snow where I live (Melbourne, Australia). We think a cold winter's day is anything under 10ºC, so I cannot even begin to comprehend how cold -20 is, let alone -30!
ReplyDeleteWe're now in summer, where our temperatures sometimes near - or exceed - 40ºC. It's not pleasant and everything looks dried out and dead. Winter is so much prettier, whether it snows or not.
PS As a regular lurker, I have to say I'm happy to have you posting every day.
Thank you! Happy to hear that people enjoy this calendar thing :)
DeleteI'd like to experience a winter like yours some day! These extreme weather conditions are always hard, -35ºC feels like every cell in your body crackles like ice and in the summer I always feel like dying when it's +35ºC outside. Sometimes I wish I could be exothermic like lizards.
we have snoww too here in my little village, brrr that's cold freezerrrrrr .... i love all yur pictures hugs from italy and sorry bad english moikka
ReplyDeleteThank you, I'm happy to hear you liked them! Hugs right back at you, and you don't need to feel sorry about your english, I'm not a native speaker either. :)
Upea asukokonaisuus!
ReplyDeleteSamoin sinulle! Ja kiitokset kuva-ja asukehaisusta :)
DeleteWhich reminds me:

:) btw. I love your Blog <3
Greetings from Germany
Haha, that's so true! Well, almost. ;) Finns are crazy, sometimes you can see people without hats or mittens even in the coldest days. Not me though, my goal is to stay warm and alive, brrr.
DeleteWho would listen to your presentation when they could concentrate on looking at you? :) But are you not cold in that outfit?
ReplyDeleteI don't think I could live without winter, either. Lovely photos.
Ooh, thank you! They had to listen to it as most of the audience was teachers, hehe. I wasn't cold at all, I had a cardigan and a winter coat on me when I went outside. :)
Deleteit's snowing here too.
ReplyDeleteyou always look so wonderful and pretty, like a princess. sometimes i envy you a little. seems you can't look anything but perfect..
No one's perfect sweetie, please don't envy me! But thank you for your kind words <3
DeleteIhanat kuvat taas <3
ReplyDeleteKiitoksia! :)
Deletehello lovely :>
ReplyDeleteI have been following your blog for two years now, and finally I have passed the veil of anonimate and came to the world of blog.
thank you for two years of wonderful photos, and little peeks into, well, you.
hugs from Portugal.

Hello Sara! Thanks you so much for your words, I'm glad that you decided to comment here. Hugs back :)
DeleteBeautiful photos, I LOVE snow. :) It finally snowed last night in Hamburg, so I can enjoy a beautiful view, too.
ReplyDeleteThank you! ^^ I love snow too, at least as long as it doesn't get into my shoes. But the clean white world always looks so enchanting.
DeleteI have an idea to take photographs of winter in your town and show them on the blogs. And a few words about your feelings about the winter Is anyone interested? greetings from Poland, Carpathians (only - 10 degrees Celsius :P)P.S. sorry for my english :/
ReplyDeleteHmm, I'm sorry hon but I'm not sure what you're trying to say!
DeleteDo you have any tips on how to stay warm in this freezing Winter? Do you wear some special tights or a coat that is extra warm? As far as I can tell, putting layers of clothes on seems to be the best (and not necessarily elegant) option :)
ReplyDeleteLayering is the key, it's definitely the warmest option. I always put an extra scarf on my shoulders and head in the coldest days, the most important thing is to stay warm, not elegant. ;) But maybe I should make a post of this! I also have one secret weapon that I bought from a vintage fair, black woollen thigh high socks from the 50's. The quality is super and they're very warm!
DeleteMany of us would appreciate a post on this! Especially from someone who knows real harsh Finnish Winter (and wears heels and skirts all the time!). :)
