Black candles burning

Some decór details I really enjoy in our small home at the moment:

♥ Black candles on thrifted silver plates and candle holders. Black candles just never lose their charm, they don't glow in the same way as their white sisters but their coolness level goes to eleven. Nothing bad about a lil' black metal vibe going on in this house, at least I don't burn them on skulls. ;)

♥ Bell jars. They always remind me of sweet Sylvia Plath. The one with the wilted rose I've mentioned earlier, it's from flea market, and the other two are new finds from the sale basket. I was so glad to stumble upon them by mistake since I've been looking for these for ages. I think I'm going to conjure up something floral and macabre inside of them, we'll see!

♥ Silver frames to cover empty spots on the wall and to cradle some commission art works. Will you believe me if I say they were 1€ each on discount? I very rarely get a frenzy on material things, but I can say that the three in the picture weren't the only ones I dragged home..

♥ Little doe deerling, the guardian of the sacred tea cup forest. Quite an old flea market purchase, but worthy of mentioning in this blog entry! She brings a smile on my face when I reach for a cup in the misty hours of the morning, including today. :)

  4. Everything about this post puts a smile on my face! :D You found some great bargains! Ornate silver trays and frames are a favourite of mine too and I love your idea of burning candles on them, very opulent! I own a few bell jars with house flowers and butterflies that I've found whilst thrifting over time! I recently got a little animal skull so I'm on the look out for another glass dome to keep it safely under! Second-hand treasure hunting is one of the most exciting things to do, you never know what you're going to find! ~♥~

    1. I'm glad to hear that! I couldn't find the candle holders for those chunky candles that would've suited my taste, so the silver plates were a pretty good substitute. I enjoy recycling things in unusual ways!

It's been sooo hard to find any second hand bell jars (or any) in Finland, they're not a traditional decoration detail around here. So I was more than happy to find even those! Animal skulls would be a great choice, they're so beautiful, but I'm not sure if I'd like a real one. Maybe I could try sculpting one. :D

  6. I'm also looking for such jars for ages! Where did you buy those ones? I'm asking, because I don't understand what is "sale basket" (I get it as something like that: http://image.shutterstock.com/display_pic_with_logo/125977/111165770/stock-vector-big-sale-concept-with-shopping-bags-into-basket-for-your-design-111165770.jpg ).

    1. It was more of a metaphorical expression, meaning an area of discounted items where I found those bell jars. :) I purchased them from a Finnish chain store called Sokos, so I have no idea where you could find them in your own country, sorry!

  7. Where did you find those picture frames? I've been looking for similar at fair price for a while. :)

    1. From Tiimari, haha! The place always surprises me. They had a discount going on for a couple of days for regular customers, I just happened to be there on the right time by chance. And I had to join the club to get those frames for that absolutely ridiculous price. :D

    1. Two rooms! :D Living room and bedroom + the corridor, bathroom and open kitchen, so it's a pretty tiny apartment. We love it here though, and we have no intentions of buying a place of our own, so it's rented. :)

  10. Moikka! Ihana postaus. Inspiroiva niinkuin edellisetkin :)

:/ Anttilasta on muistaakseni ainakin yksi noista läpimustista, tuollainen missä on hieman antiikkista pintaa. Kannattaa käydä kurkkaamassa!

    1. Thanks so much! It's good to have wonderful details when the big lines (like furniture) are like a weird bunch of misfits. :D Haha, I'd give anything to fit an antique rococo couch here, but we have a deal about using the old one to the last bits first.

And the cemetery idea sounds so cute, I think I've seen snow globes with the same idea! :)

  14. Silver trays and bell jars are a something I always look for when Im out shopping. the good thing with the jars is that you can put detailed things under and get rid of lots of dusting off work. :) Those frames are a pure bargain. They look lovely.
