24: Red

My hunch was wrong, Sandman rudely lured me away before I managed to share these outfit pics from last night. We have a tradition in our family to dress up a little for the Yule dinner. I went casually with bare feet, a few mild curls and code red for the holidays' sake. (The dress is an old Stop Staring second hand find, in case someone wishes to know.)

Dorothy nails. I snapped my fingers three times and I was home!

Odd fact of the moment; I can't get this song out of my head today. It just echoes and echoes and echoes in my mind in a crude way. "It's like dying on Christmas Day". My subconscious seems to be in a jolly festive mood!

23: Merry X-(ray)mas!

Happy skeletons, grim moths and apocalypse ponies that I named Death and Famine. Almost traditional Yule gingerbread cookies! There's still one calendar piece left, and I have a hunch it will appear during the night. But for now, I wish you all a wonderful Yule Eve! 

22: A peek on my thesis!

Now that some time has brought distance between me and the graduation inferno of spring, I'm ready to show you something about the thesis. Just a small peek! Movement will come later. 

I wanted to create something I had absolutely no hands-on experience of. It's always a risk but I craved to do a piece I would genuinely enjoy making. So, my love for pop-ups and horror tales was compressed to this within a month:

Can you tell what three Poe stories are portrayed here? These three were in the final printed prototype, but I made some designs for a couple more stories too. I hope you like it!

21: Ouija dress

Weary traveller here, hello! I've had such busy days again, phew. Now I finally arrived to my childhood home to spend Yuletide with the family, but I decided to snap a few pics on this dress before going to bed. I got it as a payment for doing some modelling hours for Evil Clothing a while ago. I'm especially fond of the longer hem and the detail between shoulder blades.

This garment feels more special to me, because I happened to design the fabric! (The dress itself is designed by Jenni Salmela) I've made some other fabric designs for the company as well, but somehow I feel a little shy about typing any work related stuff here, although I really love doing them! Find some moths, occult tones and Cheshire Cats, and you just might find my sketches behind the lines. :)

20: Nihon-go

Lately I've felt like learning Japanese again.

I used to study this beautiful language through high school years and a little while beyond that, but other studies came into my way and I forgot. I forgot so much and it's all covered in rust, but I hope some of it will come back to me. I dug out the old textbooks and files under the dust, and might switch the current independent learning method back to actual lessons at some point, if I can. I have no other motives than just to be able to speak it more fluently and find the deep joy in learning new words! Isn't it amazing, seeing something unfamiliar and unlocking its meaning? And the little spark inside when you understand a whole sentence? That's what I love about languages.
