Especially if they love Twin Peaks.

So, it's time for the annual round of the greatest show that's ever aired! ♥ Personally to me it feels like more than a TV show - it's a lot like a state of mind. A little parallel universe where you can always escape to, filled with strange and surreal sides of woodland mysteries. Last night we started with the first few episodes with my love and continued on today. We'll be having the same date every night for as long as the two seasons last! This bliss requires sharing the couch with my sweetheart, with a fresh pot of quality coffee (black as midnight on a moonless night, naturally) and PIE. That goes without saying.

The cherry season has died away so I had to replace them with self-picked blueberries. I created the pie with *this* vegan recipe (the topping is coconut ice cream) and I must say it's quite brilliant. Easy to make and not too sweet! The recipe must be good since I'm honestly not much of a baker and still my love said something that Agent Dale Cooper later agreed on:

The outfit of this happening is trivial but even so, I thought you might like to see it. I don't know why it felt like Twin Peaks to me, maybe the red nails and the dress whispered something like that when combined! We went to snap the pics on a nearby railroad bridge that reminds me of Ronette Pulaski in the pilot episode, and there's also a sawmill next to it to add a little more feel of the ghostly woodland series. The sun and the clouds were playing hide and seek so photos are tinted in different lights, hope you don't mind.

The dress and the shoes belong to this summer's best second hand finds; Minna Parikka pumps from a friend and glittery funeral dress from the 60's. The brooches are miscellaneous finds and the tights were created by the dancing shadows of the wire fence. 

Soon I'm off to drift into a deep sleep. 

I wonder if there's a dancing dwarf in there, or perhaps a room with red curtains.

Fire, walk with me

Eilen oli erään nimeltämainitsemattoman neitokaisen nimipäivä, joka tuli vietettyä kesäflunssan aiheuttamien kuumeaaltojen ja oudon olon vuoksi sisätiloissa. Olo on ollut helteenkin vuoksi aivan tarpeeksi punainen ja niin hikinen että kesän kuumimmat päivät saisivat olla puolestani tältä erää ohi. Toisaalta nautinkin lämmöstä (vaikkakin harvoin), kylmä siideri maistuu parhaimmalta juuri auringon porottaman puiston varjoissa. Kunpa vain saisin tämän väsymyksen karistettua nopeasti pois.

Hyviä lääkintäkeinoja oli onneksi lähellä. Muhkean alennuksen kautta nimipäivälahjaksi löytyneet popot paransivat hiukan mielialaa, ovatkin nyt viimeiset kenkähankintani vähään aikaan, sillä keskityn hetkeksi mieluummin piirustuspapereiden ja vuokran maksamiseen kuin kenkäpareihin :D

Parhaiten mieltä ilahdutti tietysti ilta itsessään. Jatkoimme rakkaan kanssa viime kesänä alkanutta perinnettä katsoa universumin parhaan tv-sarjan, Twin Peaksin jaksot kronologisessa järjestyksessä putkeen suurien kahvimäärien kera. Mulle sarjan katsomisessa koitti jo kuudes kerta enkä kyllästy koskaan vaikka osaan jo vuorosanat ulkoa. Löytyykö lukijoista Twin Peaksin lumoihin uponneita? Vannon että sarja on jumalaisen hyvä, jokainen jakso on pullollaan ihanan Dale Cooperin kuolemattomia lauseita ja mahtavia outouksia, suosittelen!

Twin Peaksia ei voi tietystikään millään katsoa ilman kahvia, ja leivoimme sen rinnalle vegaanisen omenapiirakan, piirakat kun liittyvät myös kiinteästi kyseisen sarjan katsomiseen. Leipominen on mukavan rentouttavaa puuhaa ja meillä on siinä työjärjestys. Minä napotan henkisenä tukena, autan, syön taikinaa ja koristelen tuotoksia mutta mieheni saa leipoa suurimman osan, hän kun on paljon parempi leipuri ja minä saan usein vain katastrofin ainekset kasaan jos leivon yksin.

On muuten hyväkin juttu että alkuperäiset kesäsuunnitelmat peruuntuivat, Lumoukseen en jaksaisi millään tällä hetkellä matkustaa eikä festareille ole tarpeeksi varoja. Olen onnellinen kun loma on kerrankin aitoa lomailua ilman rajoituksia. Kahvia, kahden viikon loma ja kasa kirjoja on suunnitelmissa tällä hetkellä, oi kuinka olen odottanut tätä pientä flegmaattisuuden aikakautta!

Translation: I caught the summer flu and therefore had to spend my name day indoors yesterday. I medicated myself with a pair of new shoes I found on summer sale and a Twin Peaks-marathon with my love. Have you ever watched Twin Peaks? It's an amazing series, I highly recommend it to everyone who enjoys witty and weird atmosphere entwined with mystery! It's an universally known truth that you can't watch Twin Peaks without drinking pots of coffee and eating some pie, so we had to bake a vegan apple pie for the evening. Basically my man baked the whole thing with my help, he does much better job on that front than I ever could :)


I'm on vacation right now, I've got two weeks time of pure relaxing before I have to go to work. Two weeks time of drinking coffee, sitting in the park, reading books, drawing and just being and breathing. I have no further plans as all my previous ones crashed down, and it feels great :)

Death Whispered A Lullaby

Neiti Fortuna on ollut minulle omituisen suotuisa lähiaikoina, tai sitten kuvittelen omiani. Tänään sain kuitenkin saaliiksi ihania vintagelöytöjä. Kontin retro-osastolta löytyi täydellisesti istuva, puhvihihainen mekko ja sen kaveriksi suloinen musta mummolaukku, vintagea myöskin. Kymmenen euroa tällaisesta yhdistelmästä on mun mielestä todella pieni lovi lompakkoon, olen jo täysin ihastunut mekkoon!

Rintakorua (kuvassa kovin pölyistä) kannoin ylläni sinä iltana kun tapasin rakkaani. Joihinkin koruihin iskeytyy suunnaton tunnearvo, eikä niitä voi koskaan myydä eteenpäin. (En tosin tuosta korusta luopuisi muutenkaan.)

Täysin uudet verkkosukat pitsireunoilla maksoivat vain puolen euron verran kirpparilla. Yllätyin miten nätisti ne istuvat peruskorkkareiden kaverina, tykkään oikeasti tuosta yhdistelmästä tosi paljon. Valovuosien päässä tennissukkien ja sandaalien uih niin mielenkiintoisesta fuusiosta!

Lasisen uunivuoankin nappasin mukaani jotta saadaan illalla lämmintä omenapiirakkaa ja kanelin ja kardemumman tuoksua kotiin. Tai siis S leipoo ja paistaa ja minä istun söpösti ja syön taikinaa, niin se onnistuu takuulla paremmin, uskokaa pois! Piirakasta tulee muuten aina väistämättä mieleen rakastamani Twin Peaks, sarja jonka voittanutta ei tässä ulottuvuudessa voi olla.
