Weekend rollings!

Last weekend was a roller derby weekend! Needless to say it was a blast in more than one way, I'm still covered in nicely purple bruises from neck to toe. We had a scrimmage workout with our own team on Friday and a more formal scrimmage game on Saturday, against a group of lovely Rollin' Ragdolls from Jyväskylä. The final score was 252-75 on our scrimmage team's (Pilluminati) favour, yayy! 

I even scored a few points myself, jamming is just often so nerve-wracking that I prefer hitting and blocking other ladies. Although I'm really working on my zen peace, I'd love to do more jamming just because I love speed so much! None of that speed was present on Saturday though, the floor was new to us and slippery like hell on my hard wheels. Now I know how Bambi felt on ice, damn I need a pair of wheels with some more grip!

Unfortunately there's not so many photos I can publish right away, so the jumping group pic and the after party outfit will have to do. :) There's many games and even a couple of bootcamps coming up in the months of spring, so there's loads of derby pics ahoy!

Halloween derby practice

I was supposed to post these pics after Friday night's roller derby practice, but Halloween and fatigue took their strong hold of me before I made it to the computer. Anyway, here's a couple of late views on Friday's rolling horror workout! I loved to see how everyone had dressed up so neatly, covered in different types of make-up and gore, but I have absolutely no idea what my own costume was. I ran out of time so the result was some kind of a long lost lovechild between Alice Cooper, a jar of glitter and Beetlejuice, go figure. :D

(My main costume of this year was slightly better, and I'll post it soon!)

Rock, Rauha + Roller Derby!

Huh, on ollut sen verran derbyntäyteinen viikko ettei mieli ole paljon muualle ehtinyt harhailla! Loppukeväästä napsaistiin koulun studiolla Rolling Roguesin profiilikuvat (kiitokset ystävälle kuvaamisesta!), ja nyt puran hieman oman session antia bloginkin puolelle. Muilla koululaisilla oli varmaan vähän ihmeteltävää kun parikymmentä neitosta rullaa käytävillä ja kohentaa tukkaa ja maskiaan vessan peilien edessä, osalla kun valui tekoverta naamalla ja muuta yhtä ihanan hempeää. :D Omassa lookissa luukorut ja Ouija-paita povasivat pelihahmon nimen puoleen, muuten look lipsahti hieman deathrockin puolelle mutta kalmaisuus on vaan plussaa. Niin hahmon kuin lajinkin kannalta.

We also got our new shirts (or should I say dresses?) today! So comfy I could wear them 24/7!

Kiireestä voi rakkaudella syyttää allanäkyvää tapahtumaa, kaikki Ilorockiin eksyväthän eksyy myös tänne paikalle, tämä on lempeä käsky! ;) Tapahtuma on ilmainen ja kaikki ovat tervetulleita katsomaan, jännittää jo niin ettei paikallaan meinaa pysyä vaikken itse edes pelaa tällä kertaa. Mut voi löytää pistelaskennasta mikä on eittämättä vielä suurempi katastrofi, en osaa laskea edes kahvinpuruja oikein kun keitän kahvia.. Mutta toivottavasti nähdään täällä! Ja mahtavaa viikonloppua kaikille, missä tahansa olettekin!

This week has been so filled with roller derby business that I've hardly had any time to focus on other things! I decided to share these player profile pics now that I got them, these were taken in the end of spring by a friend of mine (thank you!). We conquered our school's studio and I bet the other students were a bit dazzled about the twenty ladies skating in the corridors and painting their faces in the restrooms. Especially when some of us had artificial blood, guts and other sweet things dripping on their faces. :D My look included bone jewelry and Ouija-shirt, and the look slipped on the deathrock department but everything death-related is ok with my character. And the whole sports.

And the reason behind my busy week is in the bottom pic! There's this big rock festival in our town tomorrow, and we're having a show bout there, including players from many different teams. I'm so damn excited and anxious although I don't even play this time, I'm counting the points and that's even worse. I can't even count the coffee grounds right while making coffee..:D But I'm sure it'll be a lot of fun! I hope you all have a magnificent weekend, wherever you are!

You were but a ghost in my arms

Perjantai-illan kunniaksi pientä epämääräistä tiivistystä kuluneesta viikosta! Olen:
A quick and very vague summary about the past week! I have:

♥  Juhlinut vappua, ylläri! Vappu oli tällä kertaa normaalia isompi tapaus kun juhlistettiin samalla armaan avopuolison 30-vuotisuutta. Herraa ei ehkä kehtaa enää kutsua poikaystäväksi niin pitää alkaa käyttää termiä miesystävä, hoho. Tässähän tuntee itsensä melkein aikuiseksi, mutta onneksi vain melkein. ;) Tiivistetysti juhliin mahtui hyvää seuraa, litroittain skumppaa ja muuta kuplivaa, Commandon katsomista (oi kyllä!) ja loppuillasta vielä Black Sabbath-coverbändin keikalla heilumista. Kaikin puolin mainio ilta!

♥  Celebrated Walpurgis Night, Labor Day, whatever you wish to call it. This year was very special since my beloved turned 30! I guess that I can no longer call him my boyfriend, I'll have to switch it to my manfriend, haha. Gosh, how grown-up that makes me feel. There was a lot of great people around and gallons of bubbly drinks, we also watched Commando (oh, yes) and at the end of the night we went to see a Black Sabbath cover band. A very fun night indeed!

♥   Olen korkannut korkkarikauden  kipittämällä korkojen kera pitkin katuja. Kenkälaatikoiden esiinkaivaminen on yksi niistä harvoista kevään plussapuolista, lähes euforista kun asuihin voi taas yhdistellä muutakin kuin talvisia saappaita ja nilkkureita.

♥  The streets are finally dry and I've conquered them in high heels. Digging all the delicate heels out of the wardrobe is the moment that I dream of every winter. It feels so good to wear something else than boots for a change!

♥  Olen häseltänyt uusien derbykamojen kimpussa ja käynyt jo ulkonakin rullaamassa. Itärajan kylmä tuuli tärisyttää vielä luuytimiä mutta se ihana vapauden tunne ja tärinä voittaa flunssapelonkin.

♥  I got some new derby gear and have already tried my luck with outdoors skating. The cold wind of this city is still chilling the marrow of my bone but the feeling of freedom beats the fear of flu.

♥ Olen juonut liian monta pannua kahvia, siivoillut kotia hyperaktiivisena ja uppoutunut sarjakuviin enemmän kuin aikataulut sallisi. Olen vaan itsepetoksen mestari kouluhommiin liittyvissä asioissa, joten sarjiksethan on tietysti vain hienovaraista taustatutkimusta opinnäytetyölle joka sivuaa aihetta. Opinnäytetyö joka ei tällä tahdilla valmistu koskaan..

♥ I've drank too much coffee, cleaned the house in a hyperactive mode and read way more comics than my schedule allows. But I'm a master of self-deceit, so the comics are just some kind of background research for my thesis. The thesis that will probably never be complete..

Åbo

Hej kaikille täältä blogihiljaisuuden keskeltä! Vietin viimeiset puolitoista viikkoa tiukassa symbioosissa matkalaukun kanssa ja paljon olisi postattavaa, mutta tällä kertaa päräytän vaan kuvasaldoa viime viikonlopulta. Rakkauteni vanhoihin rakennuksiin, epäolennaisiin yksityiskohtiin ja luurankopuihin huokuu kuvista vähän alleviivatusti, mutta koittakaa kestää.

Varmaan jokainen tunnisti kuvista tai otsikosta viikonloppuseikkailun näyttämön, kyseessä oli niinkin eksoottinen kaupunki kuin Turku! Eksoottinen ainakin mulle, Turku oli ennen vain sokea piste kartalla. En tuntenut entuudestaan yhtään katua enkä myöskään sitä ihmistä jonka luokse majoittauduin, mutta kumpikin osoittautui vallan ihanaksi tuttavuudeksi. Nuorempana kammosin uuden ympäristön ja ihmisten keskelle yksin tipahtamista, mutta nykyään se kuuluu lempipuuhiini!

Eksyin kadulla pariin otteeseen, vierailin DRRG:n rullatyttöjen treeneissä ja kadehdin turkulaisia asuinpaikan kauneuden vuoksi. Se että jokaisen nurkan takaa löytyi jotain uutta sai jokaisen solun elämään, mutta matkalla keskityin pitkälti myös niiden solujen kiduttamiseen. Majapaikan tarjonnut uusi kamuni hakkasi hieman lisäkuvituksia ihoon, tyytyväisyys näkyy aika hyvin viimeisen kuvan kivun ja euforian sekaisesta virneestä. Kesällä on suunnitelmissa jo uusi visiitti. ;)

Hej everyone! It's been a silent week and a half, I spent it living in my suitcase all over Finland. Here's a photo flood from last weekend in Turku (Åbo), you can see my everlasting love for old buildings, unessential details and skeletal trees a bit too much but hang in there.

Turku was a blind spot on the map for me, I didn't know the streets nor the person who kindly took me to stay with her, but both turned out incredibly nice! When I was younger I used to be afraid of falling alone in the middle of new places and people, but now it's one of my favorite things in life. I got lost a couple of times, visited the local roller derby practice and explored the city whenever time allowed it. New things make every cell flicker with live, but I also concentrated on torturing those cells. My hostess inked a couple of new illustrations on me and you can see my happiness through the mixture of PAIN and euphoria on my face. And I'm planning to go there again this summer.;)

BOOTCAMP!

Viime viikonloppu sujahti varsin atleettisissa merkeissä parinkymmenen muun naisen kanssa parkettilattialla hikoillen ja kaatuillen(+pari miestäkin oli mukana, mutta refethän tunnetusti kuuluu meihin tyttöihin). Järjestettiin Joensuussa mainio pelibootcamp johon kutsuimme kolme HRD:n valmentajaa piiskaamaan meitä, mukaan rullaamaan saapui myös osa Lappeenrannan joukkueesta. Nyt pää on täynnä uutta tietoa, lihakset narskuvat kuntorääkistä ja työhommista ei meinaa tulla mitään kun päässä pyörii vain ihanat blokkaavat peput ja kaikensävyiset rullat, tätä se derbyhulluus teettää!

Ja älkää huolehtiko, tästä blogista ei todellakaan ole tulossa mitään urheilublogia mutta on mukava valottaa tätä hieman värikkäämpää (ja väkivaltaisempaa) puolta omasta elämästä. ;) Sen verran suuri osa ajastani lohkeaa tälle harrastukselle että varmasti jatkossakin raotan lajia hiukan bloginkin puolelle.

Kiinnostuneille joensuulaisille vielä tiedoksi että meidän rytinää voi tulla seuraamaan 28.4. open skatessa. Tapahtuma on yleisölle avoin joten kiinnostuneet, lämpimästi tervetuloa tutustumaan lajiin! :)

Last weekend was filled with sweating and falling on a parquette floor with over 20 other women (+a couple of guys, but they're one of us girls). My head is filled with new derby tricks, muscles are still aching and it's hard to concentrate on anything else than lovely blocking butts and wheels of all all colours, this is what derby madness does to your brain!

And don't worry darlings, this blog will never become a sports blog, but I think it's fun to flash this more colourful (and violent) side of my life here, too. Roller derby devours a lot of my spare time and it's important to me, so once in a while you'll see sweaty girls here too. Can't see how anyone would mind that. ;)
