Now that some time has brought distance between me and the graduation inferno of spring, I'm ready to show you something about the thesis. Just a small peek! Movement will come later.
I wanted to create something I had absolutely no hands-on experience of. It's always a risk but I craved to do a piece I would genuinely enjoy making. So, my love for pop-ups and horror tales was compressed to this within a month:
Can you tell what three Poe stories are portrayed here? These three were in the final printed prototype, but I made some designs for a couple more stories too. I hope you like it!
Wow! You are really talented, that is so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteIt's Awesome, Amazing, very beautiful! Great!!!
ReplyDeleteLooks fantastic!
ReplyDeleteIt is so fantastic and magnificent and terrific that I have no words! It's rly amazing maybe because I like Edgar Allan Poe. Personally speaking my first thoughts were about The house of Usher and The Raven and Eleonora :D but it depends on the individual imagination :D
ReplyDeleteTa-dah! You got two out of three right ;) The lady in the first detail is Annabel Lee, she's standing on a moonlit cliff in the whole picture.
DeleteOih, näyttää niin upealta! <3 Mieletön, ja aivan ihana idea :)
ReplyDeleteHerranjumala!! Leuka loksahti auki :D Siis näyttää kertakaikkiaan UPEELTA! Ihan mielettömän duunin oot tehnyt!!

ReplyDeleteOh my gosh these are amazing! I can't begin to imagine how much work must have gone into it!
ReplyDeleteThis is absolutely amazing, you're really talented!!!:) I love to se youre creative stuff!:D
ReplyDeleteFrom Annabel Lee and The raven? The middle one I'm not sure of thou. Just wanted to tell you that is amazing! I would love to have such a great pop up book for myself.Congrats and merry christmas:) I truly enjoy your blog and and wait to see many more lovely post to come!
ReplyDeleteYou're right, Annabel Lee and The Raven! The middle one is Fall of the House of Usher, the building collapses when you close the pages. :D I'd LOVE to make this book for sale but unfortunately it's not possible at this point, it's very difficult to produce pop-up books. But maybe I can figure out some sort of arrangement, hmmm.
DeleteWhaaaaat?!You made this?I swear i love you more from day to day!!!This is gorgeous, you are so talented.I'm seriously impressed!
ReplyDeleteHow are you sooo talented in everything you do including being as beautiful as you are !?! Speechless ...

Merry yule

WOW!
ReplyDeleteVähänkö hienoa, tuolla tavoin jaksaisin itsekin Poeta lukea :D (tähän asti en ole lukenut kuin vain yhden tarinan, jonka nimeä en muista ja tämän tunnetun The Raven runon)
ReplyDeleteI would SO buy this! Happy Yule my dear :)
ReplyDeleteThis is incredible. I would love to see you selling things like this in the future so that I can get in on all the grandeur. I remember reading a lot of your posts on lovely pop-up books but combining that with your work and your art is genius.
ReplyDeleteThis is just so beautiful. Would love to own one by myself! :)
ReplyDeleteAmazing! What do you study & where?
ReplyDeleteI studied graphic design in Joensuu, Finland and I graduated last Spring. :)
DeleteOh gosh... I think I'm in love! O_O
ReplyDeleteWow, what an amazing idea! I imagine it took quite some thinking to get those pop-up mechanics right?
ReplyDeleteDid you create more scenes and will you show us more eye candy? :)
I did create some mechanics on those but sadly didn't have any time to finish and print them. I had a crazy tight schedule and was gluing the last bits the night before my seminar. :'D It's definitely not easy to come up with these mechanics. About 90% of my tests went wrong, but I think that success rate was still really good for a complete rookie!
DeleteYou would make a killing selling this.
ReplyDeleteI would definitely be in line to buy one!
Annabel Lee, The house of usher and the raven would be my guess.
The girl appears how I've imagined the overall feel of the poem to be-- spectacular!
Thank you! I'd love to sell these but at this point it seems to be impossible, I'd need a publisher first since the production is super costly.
DeleteThat is just so so beautiful, what a great idea!
ReplyDeleteAmazing! I really love it!
ReplyDeleteAmazing! I love your work!
ReplyDeletewow! Uskomattoman upeaa jälkeä tiedossa :)
ReplyDeleteOlen satunnaisesti käynyt lukemassa blogiasi, sillä pidän paljon tyylistäsi ja kuvistasi. Olet mielettömän lahjakas ja kiehtova nainen!
